2008 Summer Monster Mash Season

Frankenstein, Or The Difficulty of Changing One’s Mind

Bunnicula – the Vampire Bunny

Frankenstein
or The Difficulty of Changing One’s Mind

Adapted and directed by John Fleming
Tucki Bailey, Musical Director

A new musical based on the suspenseful and thrilling classic novel by Mary W. Shelley. Science goes haywire as the noble Dr. Frankenstein unleashes a terrible monster upon the world. On the other hand…what if he’d used a female brain?
Original music by New York jazz composer Neil Kirkwood, giant puppets and electric staging bring buzz, buffoonery and bravado and maybe a little jolt too.

Performances of Frankenstein take place Wednesday through Sunday–June 25 – July 6, 2008 in the Antioch Amphitheater beginning at 7:30 p.m. (No performance on July 4.)

Bunnicula – the Vampire Bunny

Directed by Ara G. Beal
Adapted by Rani D. Crowe

A new play based on the children’s book series written by James Howe about a vampire bunny that sucks the juice out of vegetables. The story is centered on the Monroe family and their pets and is told from the perspective of their dog Harold. A bunny with strange eating habits and strange vampire-like qualities, Bunnicula comes to the Monroe’s on a dark and stormy night while they are watching a Dracula film and eating Count Chocula cereal. Because of this, they dub him Bunnicula. Their cat Chester, however, is convinced Bunnicula is a real vampire and a threat to the family. What follows is a charming romp in which vampire movies and family life intersect and finally ask the question: Who’s in charge–people or their pets?

Performances of Bunnicula take place July 23 – 27, 2008 in the Antioch Theater beginning at 7:30 p.m.
