Michael Mercil
Michael Mercil received his M.F.A. from the University of Chicago and lives in Columbus, Ohio. Trained as a sculptor, he works in both the public and private arenas. Public commissions include participation as a design team member for both the Allegheny Riverfront Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the forthcoming Teardrop Park in Battery Park City, New York. These collaborative public projects involve a vastly larger scale than the works in this exhibition, yet the goals are essentially the same for Mercil, which is to conflate histories, life, and art.
